1st day: Sărăţeni reclusory – Praid 14 km, 4.3o h
As we pass the reclusory we reach the forest, where our path is crossed by a stony forest path (350 m). We don’t go forward on the path, where the M05 way of Mary goes towards Sărăţeni, but we turn left namely East on the stony forest path and we comfortably go on the way through the wood 4.8 km.
We reach a crossroad where a hunting lodge can be found (114,7 km), then we turn right and follow the way upwards but only about 120 m, where we turn left on a smaller way following further the Salt Way ( the loaded road leads upwards to Siklodkő, which is a bad direction). At this two change of direction you have to pay attention the most today.
Slowly descending, the bushy wood is changed into grassland where we still descend towards the highway and the Târnava Mică river where Sovata can be seen. Direction is North-East. When we approached the river by 600 m, then we turn East and go parallel to the river (113 km), then we reach down next to Târnava (112 km). The path will get more beaten, then Praids firts houses will apear. We reach the busy road on the upper side of the village where we turn left our direction from South-East to North-West.
At 108,6 km we reach the entrance of the Salt-pass (Canionul de Sare). From here the way of Mary goes forward on the road towards the centre.
If we have time we can choose the Salt-pass where we have to pay entrance fee. Going along the pass on a path, we reach Praid on the Odorheiu Secuiesc side from where our accommodation is not far away, it is on the main street at number 180 (Szabó Borbála). On the fence is painted a violet M letter.
If we choose this accomodation, on this street, the walking is shorter by 1 km as across the centre.
In the Salt-pass it is worth trying out the salty mud-baths, which are known for their curing effect. The black salty mud is good to ease the pains in the joints, through the skin removes the roughage and the wanderer as a reborn person can continue the pilgrimage towards Şumuleu.
Who will choose the the way to the centre, can visit the Salt Mine Praid or bath in the open-air pool.
The entrance of the Salt Mine Praid can be found at the crossroad of the Bánya street and the 13A highway (107,1 km). The way of Mary goes along the high road until the big crossroad towards East, where the 13B and 13A roads branches to the directions of Gheorgheni and Odorheiu Secuiesc. On the road towards Odorheiu Secuiesc at the sharp turning we don’t turn right, but going in a smaller side street (Király street) we reach the catholic church (105,8 km).
After a look around and relaxation it is recommended to have a good rest, because tomorrow will follow a hard day. |
